ESCHE YOUTH ART HOUSE

Interior design

In the middle of Altona-Altstadt there is a small commercial area. Here - at Eschelsweg 4 - is the Esche building. Formerly a production site for Siggelkow laboratory equipment, it is now home to a colorful mix of creative industries.

Die Esche As a youth art center, the Esche offers a wide range of free creative courses for children and young people - from dance and movement to singing and theater, to drawing, painting and crafts. The doors of the Esche are open to all kids! It is a free space of diversity, where you can meet each other without prejudice; ideologically neutral and not committed to any political direction.

In the Esche there is a large movement room for dance, theater and sports with changing rooms and showers. The studio offers space for artistic expression of all kinds. The open kitchen is designed to show that fresh food and preparing delicious meals together can be a lot of fun. Three rooms on the mezzanine level offer space for other creative courses - from singing lessons to drawing classes.

The Esche was initiated by a Hamburg family. All offerings are financed solely by private donations.

Dedicated artists, trained social pedagogues and professionals are responsible for leading the courses. The program is created with the support of schools, clubs and other social institutions.

In addition, non-profit associations from the district find space in the Esche for their art projects with children and young people.
