The second workshop of the grand India tour took place at at the NID Campus in Gandhinagar with post graduate students mostly from „Strategic Design“.
What we learned: The National Institut of Design was founded on ideas of Ray and Charles Eames as proposed in the „India Report“, after Nehru asked the designers 1959 to visit India for several months to make recommendations for design education in India. After all that time it still is a very interesting read.
The NID also took up many ideas of Bauhaus and HfG Ulm, which –in contrast to German schools– are still in use today.
